Fish Oil And Depression

August 5, 2007

Many research experiments have proved that there are a number of treatments and cures for humans found in the sea, like fish oil, and its uses in struggling against depression. The idea of using fish oil in fighting against depression originates from various quests that were made, and by examining, that the countries in which the rate of fish consumption is high, possesses minimum percentage of people suffering from depression. It has been observed that the pregnant ladies who consume little or no fish oil during their pregnancy suffered from depression as compared to the pregnant women consuming good amount of fish oil during 9 months of pregnancy. After undergoing infinite researches, it has been confirmed that the omega-3 fatty acids, which are the main components of fish oil, are the best anti-depressants. This anti-depressant “omega-3 fatty acid” fights against depression by raising the level of serotonin.

The best source of Omega-3 fatty acids is the seafood, and is not generated by the human body. DHA is one of the Omega-3 fatty acids which influence the proper functioning of the brain as it helps in the communication among neurons, which leads to the quick transmission of the signals.

The dose of omega-3 fatty acids can be taken while treating depression as a part of supplement, or by eating fishes like salmon, tuna, or sardines.

It is always recommended to consult your physician before starting the doses of Omega-3 fatty acids to fight depression.

If the thought of 10 days of lemonade and laxatives required for the master cleanse isn’t for you you might want to try herbal detox tea. This tea won’t work as well as the master cleanse, or other more aggressive detox’s, but it will help remove waste from your colon.

You can find this tea sold under the brand name “smooth move” or “herbal detox tea” in most health food stores and in some national chains. Both brands taste good!

I’ve found that letting the tea steep a little longer (around 10 minutes) helps it work better.

The master cleanse is not all that hard so some people might not think to buy a book to learn how to do it. After all it’s just lemon, Cayenne pepper, grade b maple syrup, and water right?

Yes and no.

There are some precautionary measures you should take before doing the cleanse, and some people who aren’t healthy enough should defiantly not try the master cleanse. But back to this master cleanse book - it stresses the importance of spending a few days before doing the cleanse to prepare yourself.

You might not think spending a few days drinking nothing but lemonade and water would be very hard, but it is. Most of my friends who I’ve introduced to the master cleanser don’t last one day on the diet. The Master Cleanse Secrets book addresses this, and gives you some very helpful advice for setting goals and preparing for the 10 day cleanse.

The book also covers one of the main drawbacks of Stanley Burroughs original master cleanser diet, and that’s the lack of protein. Going to long without protein is not healthy, but you can’t get the detoxing benefits if you eat meat, or dairy products. The Master Cleanse Secrets book tells you about a source of protein that won’t interfere with the master cleanses detoxing process.

If you’ve been thinking about doing the master cleanse, and don’t mind spending a few dollars to make sure you’re doing it right the Master Cleanse Secrets book is a good buy.

There’s also a really good bonus guide called “Optimizing Your 4 Purification Systems” that shares a easy system for detoxing your body.

If you’ve been thinking of starting a colon cleanse you’ve probably come across some of the colon cleansing kits sold in health food stores and online. They are usually made up of a few components including some type of fiber supplement (usually psyllium husk) some herbs to detox your body, and some of the more expensive kits will include a laxative tea.

The “Colonix Advanced Internal Cleansing Program” by Dr Natura sells for $88 for a 1 month supply. This is one of the most popular cleanses available, and the people I know who’ve used it rave about the results. That said, some people can’t afford to pay almost $100. The good news is you can assemble your own supplies and save a lot of money.

The corner stone of any colon cleansing kit is fiber. I like to use psyllium husk, or ground up flax seed. You can pick up psyllium husk in bulk or in capsules. For the flax seed I buy them whole then grind them up in a coffee grinder. You can also use prepackaged fiber product found in the health section of most stores.

To further help get things moving a salt water flush is a good idea. A little bit of epsom salt mixed with water is a potent laxative. If you use this make sure the epsom salts you buy can be used internally, because you don’t want to use bath salts. It should be labeled on the package.

For the detoxing portion of the cleanse and inexpensive alternative to colon cleansing kits is to drink detox tea. There are many companies who sell detox tea and they are all similar and contain herbs that support healthy liver and kidney function.

Many people think that just taking these products will cleanse their body. This is not the case. Regardless of whether you buy a colon cleansing kit, or follow the advice I listed above you will still have to change your diet if you want to see any benefits from using these products. Remember all these things are is “supplements” meaning they are meant to “supplement” a healthy diet. Yes, they will do a good job of forcing garbage out of your system, but if you’re using all these products AND eating junk food at the same time it’s unlikely that you’ll see and major changes.

So eat a clean diet with lots of fruits and vegetable - drink a ton of water - and use the cleansing products to supplement your efforts.

There was a time that I was feeling run down, sluggish, constipated, chronically fatigued, and completely lackluster; and I knew I needed to do something quickly to turn myself around. Skeptical about fasts and cleanses—many of which I had tried and tortured over only to fail—I was surprised at how I took to the Master Cleanser, a 10 day program that changed my life. Not only did this program detoxify and clean my body of its chronic years of abuse, but it also built good health and a change of habit into me at the same time. I felt so good while doing the cleanse, that I decided to switch afterwards from supermarket foods to 100% organic! I have never felt better.

What is amazing is that this best kept secret has been around since the 1940s, and there are tons of resources and rave reviews about it everywhere! Do a search on the Internet for The Master Cleanser or its other common name, The Lemonade Diet, and you’ll see what I mean. The Master Cleanser eliminates toxins and congestion in all parts of the body, cleanses the kidneys and digestive tract, purifies glands and cells, eliminates all unusable waste and hardened materials in joints and muscles, relieves pressure in nerves, arteries, and blood vessels, builds a healthy bloodstream, and keeps youth and elasticity in tact. This diet also works miracles for those looking to shed a few pounds. Don’t take my word for any of this. Instead, research this amazing program, or better yet, try it yourself.

How to do the Master Cleanser diet

The Master Cleanser diet should be followed for a minimum of 10 days and may be repeated 3-4 times a year to keep your body healthy. The diet provides all nutrition needed during this time as well as all vitamins and minerals if you use the high-quality ingredients specified. Though you may think it odd that one could not be ravenously hungry when not eating for 10 days, this is exactly what happens with the Master Cleanser diet.

All you need to do is take between 6 to 12 glasses of the Master Cleanser lemonade drink daily during your waking period. If you get hungry, have another glass of lemonade. No other food or supplements may be taken during this cleanse.

Make the lemonade drink as follows:

  • 2 Tbsp fresh squeezed organic lemon juice (not packaged or bottled)
  • 2 Tbsp organic Grade B maple syrup (not maple flavored sugar syrup)
  • 1/10 Tsp cayenne pepper or to taste (at least 1/10 Tsp)
  • 10 ounces of warm to medium hot spring or purified water

Because this is a cleansing diet, the more you can assist nature to eliminate toxins, the better. If your system feels upset during the cleanse, it is because you are not eliminating wastes sufficiently. To avoid this, you should take an herbal laxative tea each night of the cleanse before bedtime. I used Smooth Move, an all-natural herbal laxative tea, and it worked gently and thoroughly. Products like this are available at health-oriented stores like Whole Foods or Wild Oats.Laxative tea works great for loosening and eliminating toxic buildup during the night, but there is another aid that really puts the cleanse into high gear—internal salt water bathing. This should be done upon waking on an empty stomach. Prepare a full quart of lukewarm purified water and add two level teaspoons of uniodized sea salt to it. Stir or shake the mixture and drink the entire quart. The saltwater mixture will thoroughly wash your digestive tract in about an hour. Several eliminations will likely occur, but if they do not, add a little more sea salt to a bit more water until elimination takes place. You have successfully detoxified your body when your tongue is no longer coated.

I am in the fortunate position that I can make my own hours and do this cleanse without disrupting my work and private life. Those of you who work outside the home will need to modify the regimen to suit your needs. People who work full time succeed grandly at this cleanse by taking the herbal laxative tea earlier in the evening so that elimination occurs before bedtime. Or they do the internal saltwater bathing on the weekends and during non-work hours. The main thing is that elimination, and lots of it, must occur for full toxic buildup removal.

Coming off the Master Cleanser diet

Coming off the Master Cleanser properly is very important. The first day, drink several 8-ounce glasses of fresh organic orange juice, and sip it very slowly as if savoring every drop. The second day, drink several 8-ounce glasses of fresh organic orange juice and eat a light, all-natural vegetable broth with a few vegetables in it that evening; you may also have one or two natural rye crackers with the broth. On the third day, have orange juice for breakfast, all-natural vegetable soup for lunch, and any vegetables, fruits, and salads you want for dinner. Normal eating may resume on the fourth day, but try to keep your food intake healthier than before.

Stanley Burroughs wrote a book about this diet, called The Master Cleanser. Its 50 pages describe anything you could ever imagine about this diet, and it is available on Amazon.com for $6.50. It is my hope that this cleanse does for you what it did for me—fuels you with new life, vigor, and magic.

The Master Cleanser diet is given as a suggestion. Anyone who follows it does so voluntarily. Each must use discretion and judgment as to its applicabiltity and use.

There’s a new squidoo lense for the master cleanse

The page looks kind of cluttered, but then again almost all the squidoo lenses I’ve seen look like that.

If you want to do the master cleanse, but don’t know how, or are concerned about the health risks there is free guide that gives you more then just the master cleanser recipe.

The website Master Cleanse Secrets (www.mastercleansesecrets.com) offers a free guide that outlines the exact steps you need to take in order to both finish the master cleanse and do it in a safe way.

If you’ve been thinking about going on the master cleanse this guide will take you through the entire process step by step. It also covers some of the dangers of using the master cleanse for weight loss. There’s a lot of bad advice floating around about this, and it’s could cause some serious health risks if you’re not careful.

Why Master Cleanse?

November 12, 2006

I don’t know of anything that can change your health as fast as the master cleanse. In just 10 days the master cleanse can purge your body of all the damaging phlegm and waste that’s accumulated over the years.

The benefits are:

  • Increased energy
  • Weight loss
  • Smooth skin
  • Well being

This happens in just 10 days on the master cleanser diet.

The most overlooked thing I noticed with people doing the master cleanse is clean, pure water.

Almost all tap water contains chlorien and many other contaminants. Most bottled water is filled with the same junk that’s found in tap water.

Bottled water is also way overpriced, costing as much as $10 a gallon. To make sure you’re giving your body the safest water look into a quality water filter. I like the AQ-4000

Filtered water is the one step you can’t shortcut while on the lemonade diet

If you want to start the Master Cleanse the first step would naturally be to read “The Master Cleanser” by Stanley Burroughs.  It’s a thin 50 page book that gives you the steps and benefits of going on the Master Cleanse.

Being able to network with others is also a big help. The cleanse is not easy, and having a support group make your time on the cleanse easier. Having friends or family go on the master cleanse with you would be the best choice, but for many it hard finding anyone to go 10+ days drinking just  lemonade. That’s where forums come in. There are online communities dedicated to the master cleanse and other natural health techniques that are filled with helpful people, and experts on the master cleanse.

http://www.therawfoodsite.com/forum has a dedicated group of people that can answer your questions and support you during your time on the cleanse.

One of the best resources I’ve found for tips on the Master Cleanse is the master cleanse secrets newsletter. The newsletter is free, and has really helped me overcome some of the previous difficulties I had following the traditional master cleanse.

These 3 resources, and some determination is all it takes to get started. Good Luck!
